Zeek (Zeek The Rapper)

Recording Engineer

Over the summers of 2013 & 14, Zeek The Rapper participated in the “College for Kids” program, by Kirkwood Community College. One of the classes he chose to take was beat production, where he used the program “Garage Band” to make beats. In middle school he played percussion and took private piano lessons.  In high school he got his first laptop and DJ’d at parties and different events, and freestyle with his friends. By junior year he was writing music seriously and doing live performances. He has opened for artists such as FBG Duck, Famous Dex, B.o.B., and many more. While going to college for software engineering, Zeek started producing beats on a program called “FL Studio”, which he taught himself to use from watching videos on Youtube. He also took a poetry/writing class while attending the University of Iowa. In 2017 he started recording music here at The Sound Box, and over the years has become a part of our team. Zeek wants to make the world a better place through music and was inspired by the need for real substance in mainstream music. Zeek does consulting work for artists in the area, extending his network and resources to help artists achieve their goals. He is currently studying for Pro-tools certification. He’s learning engineering to better serve other artists as well as improve his own art.
